FAQs

Your company services my pool fortnightly. What do I have to do in between services?

The most important thing is to check and clean your skimmer basket weekly, or as required, and keep the pool topped up to the correct water level. Don’t worry about all the other chores; we’ll take care of them upon our visits. Just remember to remove the auto pool cleaner before you want to use your pool and reinstall it once you’ve finished. Please let us know if you need any onsite training or assistance.

How long do I have to run my pool filter pump for over Winter?

In our temperate Melbourne climate, it’s cheaper to maintain your pool over Winter than it is to neglect it and with the current water restrictions, it’s the only viable and responsible option. The minimum time you need to run your filter pump will depend on your filtration system’s efficiency, the time it takes your pool cleaner to do its job and the time it takes for your sanitation system to create or dose enough sanitiser, to stop the water turning cloudy or green. In most cases, this is anywhere from 3 to 6 hours per day. On average it’s around 4 hours per day in Winter.

Can I turn my solar heating system off over Winter?

The answer is yes. There’s no point wasting power to heat up your pool in the off season, when the pool is not being used and most of the heat gained during the day will be lost overnight. However, if your solar controller does not have a “Winter” setting, it is wise to run your solar pump manually at least 10 minutes once a month. If you don’t, your solar pump motor can easily seize over time.
